JLO's not acting like she wants to be rich or was poor or falling in love. Wait, she was a waitress in this movie, married to a rich abusive husband. But luck is on her side. Her biological father's 1 jerk but he's a rich jerk who in the end helped her.
I thought this was pretty boring but I was wrong. I stayed glued to the tv when it was showing. I thought it was a movie about a woman being abused but half of the movie was about her trying to escape and run from her abusive husband.
The lawyer was right. She had 2 chances to report to police but her abusive husband was friends with police! What could she do to protect their daughter and herself?
When she started to train to fight back, I cheered.
Sometimes her cute-in-old daughter says the darnest thing. :D
Like when JLO told her daughter, "You can't call me Slim anymore, ok?"
Her daughter shrugged, "I never called you Slim."
"I know.. but when people ask... I'm not Slim."
Her daughter was like, whatever. "I don't think you're slim anyway."
Haha. A few light hearted moments in this thriller.
On a deeper level, any movie with abuse - I watch. It's just not fair to be abused - verbally, physically, emotionally, etc.
